Privacybench is now open to everyone
01 Oct 2026
It's alive
Well, it's out there now.
privacybench.online — officially in the wild.
What it is
A site that reads privacy labels from the App Store and scores how much an app says it collects. Doesn't verify anything — just reads what the developer declared.
Formula is simple:
- Track × 10
- Linked × 4
- Not linked × 1.5
Higher — worse. Lower — better. That's it.
Numbers so far
180k+ apps in the database. 160k+ scored. Snapshots every week.
You can compare apps, see change history, catch when someone quietly updated their label.
Who is it for
Journalists, researchers, privacy nerds, competitors who want to peek at what the neighbor is doing.
Or just curious to check your favorite messenger.
It's open
Sign up and you're in. No waiting, no invites.
Let's see where this goes.
